One year at TLV DGC PDF Print E-mail

Today marks one year since the baskets went in at the TLV Park. One Sunday 20+ disc golfers met up at the park to sing Happy Birthday to the baskets and play a casual mini. We all put a golf disc into a bucket and the winners split the discs. Three folks even brought out their backyard temp baskets so we could play a full 18. The weather was fantastic and there were laods of families out playing the course and enjoying the park.

Chris Vandergriff took first in the advanced/open division with a seven under par. Dax Nutt, member of Houston Deaf Disc Golfers and TLV regular, took first in the Rec/Intermediate division with one under par. Dix also aced the close-to-the-pin contest and won a donated $20 gift certificate to Cory's Bike Shop and Disc Go in Pearland.

Many players want to have regular minis at the course. I'm going to try to organize casual events like this again in the future. I invite folks to join the TLV DGC Fabecook group to let other folks know when you're playing.

TLVDGC League Coming Soon PDF Print E-mail

On March 14th the clocks change giving us an extra hour of daylight in the evenings and what better way to use that extra hour than to join a disc golf league? Chuck Conaway and Chris MacGregor want to know if you are interested in a league at TLVDGC. Disc golf leagues are a great way to improve your game, meet other players and challenge your disc golfing skills. A TLVDGC League would follow the standard disc golf league format (6 week league, only your top four scores count) with one notable difference; no cash payout and no ace pot. Due to TLV park rules we can not have a league that plays for money, so this league will only play for bragging rights. The following divisions will be offered in the TLVDGC League: Novice, Recreational, Intermediate, Advanced and Expert. If there is interest we will offer a Juniors division. Sign-up and flex start from 4:30 to 5:30pm. League play usually last about 90 minutes.

City Council decides on Disc Golf Course PDF Print E-mail
Thursday, 04 March 2010 03:49

The future of Disc Golf at Taylor Lake Village Park has been decided, at least for the next year.

This evening at the TLV City Council meeting the future of the disc golf course was on the agenda. At the conclusion of the city's Ad Hoc Committee on Disc Golf last year the city requested that area residents let their voices be heard about the future of the course in the park. The feedback process came to a close and the city council had two items on the agenda about the course; a decision on the rules sign and a decision on the course after hearing community feedback.
